Relax

All we’ve heard about this past week is swine flu this and swine flu that.
There have been many reports about the who, what, when, where, why, and how. But, according to the doctors I’ve spoken to, the bottom line is:
Relax.

To avoid swine flu, according to these same officials, take the same precautions you would to prevent catching any virus:
• Wash your hands—a lot
• If you’re sick, stay home so you don’t spread germs
• If someone else is sick, stay away from them
• Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth
• Fully cover your cough
• When you blow your nose, throw away the tissue instead of letting it lie around

Our message is don’t go to extremes. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Do not avoid seeing a doctor if you’re not feeling well just because you’re afraid you might seem paranoid. But do not jump to call 911 after every sniffle or sneeze. Until the word “pandemic” comes into play, let’s not run for the hills screaming.
If you want more details about the virus, visit the websites of the CDC and World Health Organization.
